Social Side of Dance: Making New Friends

There's something magical that happens when strangers become dance partners, even for just one song. As a shy, slightly antisocial person, talking to a stranger? Nightmare. But if instead we link hands and try to find our rhythm together we end up walking away with huge smiles on our faces ready to meet our next dance partner a little more confident.

What I love about our social dance nights is watching friendships form organically. I have seen people start as strangers in a beginner salsa class, but by the end of the evening, or a couple classes later they're making plans to practice together or grab dinner before next week's class. The beauty of social dance is that it doesn't matter if you're 18 or 80, if you have 10 years of experience or 10 minutes—when the music starts, everyone's equal on the dance floor.
